Where Sweatshops Are a dream

Image result for Sweatshop Immigrants

Kristof begins his essay by comparing Phnom Penh as a vast dump garbage. The Problem he identifies is that families live in these toxic places and are exposed to all the junk. Kristof assumes his readers are sympathetic. His purpose in this essay is to inform people about the harsh labor standards these people go through abroad. In order to accomplish this purpose he appeals mainly to pathos in order to get his message across. The writer provides many sentimental testimonies of the people that live in Phnom Penh. He also appeals to ethos when he mentioned Mr. Obama and the democrats who favor labor standards in trade agreements when they intended to fight back at oppressive sweatshops abroad. In his essay, Kristof address the main argument against the thesis, the idea that sweatshops are only a symptom of poverty, not a cause, and banning them closes off one route out of poverty. He refutes this argument by saying," my views on sweatshops are shaped by years living in East Asia, watching as living standards soared-including those in my wife's ancestral village in southern China-because of sweatshop jobs. Finally he concludes by making the point that, " The best way to help people in the poorest countries isn't to campaign against sweatshops but to promote manufacturing there." Overall, the argument Kristof makes is effective because reaches goal of including egos logos and pathos along with good organization and concluding statement.

Media Violence Critical Response

In the essay "Media violence is good for kids" by Gerard jones, the writer believe that media violence is helpful to a lot of kids. I agree with this to an extent.. I believe children should be taught to work , play sports, music , or do something they love outside of school to help them build their character. Jones does a good job providing evidence for his work but I think he should've mentioned more facts like he did mention psychologist Moore to help him refute the teacher argument that "media violence is bad for kids because it fills up their head with junk. The author did provide good testimonies, like his sons experience with reading Tarzan comics encouraged  him to climb up a tree without fear of falling because he then viewed climbing a tree as an adventure. Overall, I thought Jones did a good job conveying the message in narrative way.

Text Version vs Photo Essay.. which is better ?

They provide the same information.. The question is which one is best to use to better understand the content that is given. Even though reading the text version of the convention provides one with useful information, utilizing a photo essay version provides one with a more memorable way to learn all of the many articles from the convention. What's nice about a photo essay version is that it provides a slideshow along with a variety of different images in relation to the article number written just below it. The text versions makes one as a reader uninterested in the work when there's no image and when the context is written in small black and white long sentences.

in addition, there appears to be a general relationship with the individual articles and the photo used. For instance, in Article 3&10 " a child shall not be separated from his or her parents against their will … [and shall be permitted to cross national borders] for … family reunification ". The photo essay version provides an image of a child alongside his father and has the article written just below the image. Seeing this picture will create a memory in our brain so when the time to remember what Article3&10 represent it shall be easier to remember what it means because of what the image given represented.
…The image used to represent this article go hand in hand
a child who is seeking refugee status or who is … a refugee … [shall] receive appropriate protection and humanitarian assistance ….” One of 7.5 million Afghan refugees in 2001, Pakistan.... This is a perfect example to go with the article because by the look of the young women's face  it shows the suffrage she and her family and community go through on regular basis which always the best motivate for seeking a better place to live and better future for their next generations.

Intro to what is an argument ?

Arguments are inevitable when comes to us humans.. this is because we all have different ways of thinking and approaching things. which is a good thing I believe because what would this world be if we all agreed on the same thing? probably not as progressive since the world began. Many people tend to think that when two individuals are screaming opposite statements at each other, that those two people are having an argument, when in reality they are having a contradiction. A contradiction is when one takes what another person is saying and reply with the complete opposite.

An argument in reality is when an individual takes a stand on a topic and provides evidence with logic and is able to convince an audience to accept his stance buy bringing something with value to the table. This is  also referred to as a formal argument. According to Aristotle, for an argument to be success and reach its purpose it must include Ethos, logos, and pathos. In addiction, writing a well developed argument requires a process. the argument must have Thesis followed by at least 3 supporting evidence and include a refutation of the opposing argument and end it with a concluding statement.

The life of social media

I say the life of social media because that's literally what I mean. nowadays every body uses social media, social media has impacted the life's of billions. People use social media as a way to connect with people you don't see often or to just get informed on what's going on in the world we live, which is a good thing.. But sometimes we get too excited to what the innovation of technology has brought to our lives that sometimes we forget to live our own and enjoy the fresh air and see the beautiful structure of nature. social medias such as Facebook, twitter, Instagram, and YouTube are the most commonly used. SNAPCHAT is great example of people not living the moment.. people who use snap chat don't enjoy to the fullest the situation they are experiencing because they are too busy focusing the camera on their phone so they can record to send to their friends. I believe for most people having a entertainment system such as a phone is not a good thing because people get so addicted to their phones they want to utilize them most of the time and there's times where you shouldn't use your phone, for instance while driving.. The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Social media is also bad for your health! people are becoming obese due to the fact that they are not physically activity as they once were before all this new technology was discovered. What's the future for the next generation to come? life expectancy will average to fifty years of age if there is no control.

I want to major in environmental engineering, because we have a lot of land that needs help with producing harvest.. so basically what I want to do is help fix that issue so we can make money selling sorghum to local ranch owners and also do business with the government in growing whatever is needed to other citizens.
